A Taste of Nova Scotia

Day One
Portland, Maine
Meet our Tour Trends Tour Director in Portland, Maine, and visit the Portland Headlight (Commissioned by George Washington) for a photo stop.  We overnight this evening in Portland.  Dinner is included this evening.

Day Two
Lighthouse Trail

An early departure from the hotel for the CAT Ferry Terminal.  We board the CAT for our sailing to Yarmouth, NS. Upon arrival in Nova Scotia, travel the scenic Lighthouse Route to Halifax with a stop in Lunenburg. Lunenburg’s colorful waterfront, narrow streets and captivating architecture reflect the flavor of the town’s seafaring heritage. While in Lunenburg, visit the interesting Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic that displays the history of commercial fishing in Atlantic Canada. Today’s journey ends in Halifax. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day Three
Peggy’s Cove & Halifax
Begin with a visit to Peggy’s Cove. This unique, rugged fishing community is clustered around a narrow ocean inlet. The lighthouse is perched high up on a huge, sea-washed boulder and served as the only Post Office in a lighthouse in Canada. Travel back to Halifax for a tour of the City, beginning with a visit to the Citadel, a fortress which dominates the City. The Halifax Public Gardens offer an oasis of a Victorian formal garden in the midst of a busy city. Visit the cemetery where many of the victims of the Titanic disaster are buried. This evening, a dinner cruise will feature highlights of Halifax from its famous harbor. (Breakfast, Dinner Cruise)

Day Four
Evangeline Trail & CAT
Travel through the Annapolis Valley, with its apple orchards and lush farms. At the Grand Pré National Historic Site, a stone church stands as a memorial to the Acadians and houses an exhibit on the Deportation of these peoples, who were banished by the English. Their plight was the central theme of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s immortal poem, "Evangeline". We take the late afternoon CAT Ferry back to Portland.  (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day Five. Depart for Home
Leaving Nova Scotia behind; depart for home taking memories that will last forever (Breakfast)
